About this Cause

Hi, I’m Penny Bristow — purple-haired, golf-obsessed, and turning 65. To celebrate, I’m launching the 65@65 Challenge: playing 65 different golf courses starting September 2025 across Pennsylvania, the U.S., and maybe even Scotland. It’s not just about golf — it’s about pushing boundaries, embracing joy, and proving it’s never too late to take on something big. I’m doing this to challenge myself as I age, promote golf for women (especially late starters), and raise money for First Tee of Greater Philadelphia, a nonprofit empowering kids through golf and life skills. I’m a married mom of two grown daughters, grandma of two, and a freelance medical writer. I picked up golf in my 50s after back surgeries and now play weekly, take lessons, and compete in women’s leagues. My home course is Union League Golf Club at Torresdale in Philadelphia, and my handicap is 18.9 (and dropping). Follow along as I chase birdies, dodge bunkers, and maybe pull off a miracle shot or two. I’ll share updates, highlights, scores, and near meltdowns — and you can get involved by pledging a donation to First Tee for every par or birdie I make.
